went to UPM today for the Festival Filem dan Video Pelajar Malaysia Keenam (FFVPM6). to make it into the finals of the Anugerah Perdana, all contestants (student from a public or private institution of higher learning in Malaysia) must submit their proposals consisting of original stories that have not been aired or submitted in any previous FFVPM to the organisers.
Quek and co have previously successfully got into the top 5 Super Pitch qualifying round, and were given a budget of RM2000 to shoot and produce the documentary. the final team members were shortlisted to Quek, Winnie, Anthony, Adrian, Mark and i.
our documentary - Witty Wings - was shot mainly at Batu Pahat, and for the editting they got permission to use our university's editting room 24/7. that's tough work. but i'm sure they had tonnes of fun in the process. and the outcome was splendid, minus a few subtitle errors ;p
the festival is held from the 8th-10th of january, which began today. Quek's other production, The Last Exit, a short film, is being competed for another award, which is the Anugerah Cipta.
among all 5 documentaries, i can seriously say that Witty Wings is the best. this is because the others were so lengthy and draggy and lack of content even though all 5 had the time limit of not more than 30 mins. in Witty Wings' case however, we had ALOT OF content xD, thus making the entire documentary not empty. and it's story-like approach goes easy with the audience. Witty Wings garnered huge response from the crowd, which was really overwhelming, so proud of the entire team! :'-) congratulations! i feel that this is the ultimate achievement, for the documentary to be so warmly accepted by the audience.
to Witty Wings, The Last Exit, Rewind - a short film produced by another bunch of UTAR-ians in the running for the Anugerah Perdana as well - and all cast and crew of said productions, good luck and kudos on a job well done! :D
