Kitarō 喜多郎 - an inspiration

so, Kitarō, the Grammy award winning musician/composer/multi-instrumentalist, came to visit EMA today (8th of March). a few of us students were selected last minute to put up a performance for him. i was stunned when told that i have to perform my own composition for him. @@ panic striken.

morning, woke up, went to EMA to practise. boy did i feel pukey. my palms were sweaty, my stomach was churning, i almost puked my heart out. or shat my intestines out. whichever one's grosser to you xD

finally, he arrived. one by one we played for him, and it was my turn. a chill went down my spine.

thanks ida for the amazing shot! :D

he sat there listening to me playing shiz @@

it definitely wasn't my best performance.
but it was a great honour to have had the
opportunity to perform in front of him. and his
presence was much felt. although i couldn't
understand what he was trying to convey through his
limited English; nonetheless, i'm pretty sure what
he meant was quite simple : music is music
when it touches people's heart and when you
can connect with your listeners through it. :)

group shot of all the performers with Kitarō san!

he even performed for us!
even though it was a simple song,
but i believe every note he played
struck a chord in everyone's heart.
that's how amazing he was is :)

and boy did he have some crazy stalker fans @@

one kept playing Kitarō's songs on his flute,
one was very persistent to have Kitarō sign
all of his albums that he collected over the
years, and they proved to be quite fanatic
towards him too @@ scary....

teachers with Kitarō + baby chen yi! :D

you're feeding him well teacher xD
